Our main character, Viv, is as entrenched as entrenched can be. No matter how deeply entrenched you are in a past life. One of the most important lessons we are shown in Legends & Lattes is that it is wholly possible to change and become someone new. This sense of community-building and togetherness makes for a strong foundation of the soft and cozy vibe of this book. But needless to say as a reader I really felt the coming together of the various characters in this book to make Legends & Lattes work out. I expound more on this later on in this review. More than the food though, Baldree is excellent at crafting an atmosphere of community. In fact, I highly recommend brewing yourself a fresh cup of coffee or a latte to have while you read.I did so several times and can’t even begin to tell you how much it enhanced my reading experience.Īnd it’s not just the coffee! The description of the pastries really had me hungry too. Almost exactly like sitting in a coffee shop. She liked it a great deal.Įverything about Legends & Lattes evokes a soft, warm feeling. It was a glowing warmth she’d never experienced before, and she liked it. The combined aromas of hot cinnamon, ground coffee, and sweet cardamom intoxicated her, and as she brewed and smiled and served and chatted, a deep contentment welled up.

It felt modern and forward-thinking, but also cozy and welcoming.

Glancing around, Viv decided that she was extremely proud of the shop’s interior.
